All aboard! London Transport Museum is an independently operated subsidiary of Transport for London and is a “not for profit” organisation. All revenue sales help support the Museum’s wide range of public services and charitable commitments. For thirty years, the London Transport Museum has commissioned artists and designers to provide imaginative new products that complement London Transport Museum exhibitions. Among the shop’s most popular items are iconic posters spanning a century of transport design. London Transport Museum has one of the finest poster archives in the world with over 5,000 posters and 700 original poster artworks. The Destination In 2019 London Transport Museum was looking to make the online shopping process of the world of Transportation customer-centric, efficient, visually stimulating, and overall, a seamless shopping experience, allowing people to dive into the world of disused train parts and moquette seats unabashed, and immerse themselves into a world rarely accessible to the public. The outcome? A bright, user-friendly, intuitive website with fast and efficient payment integration, making that decadent purchase easier than ever Plan that route London transport museum needed to make the move from Magento 1 to Magento 2. 247 Commerce presented five designs for the new and improved london transport museum eCommerce shop, and once the preferred choice was agreed upon, we went into the requirements phase, which included virtual workshopping due to Covid-19 restrictions. Using Magento as the operating SaaS platform, we had 10 of our in-house developers completely overhaul the shop design, using the user journey and user experience as the two-pronged visual approach and as the driving force for change. We brought payment options, search functionality, navigation, and look and feel, all up to date. Mobile Optomisation was also at the forefront of the new technology. The project development, including rollout, ran for three months and went live Mid-July 2020, and though you hear this often, the results really do speak for themselves. IMAGE TO BE ADDED Mind the gap Sales are up, last month the number of products ordered was up 100% year on year, and the conversion rate has improved. Page Views have gone up by 58.7% YoY Site Users on mobile devices have gone up by 25.6% YoY and the site has seen a drop of almost 10% on the bounce rate YoY. “We appointed 247 Commerce earlier this year for our M1 to M2 migration project. Our new website was launched earlier this month and we have been impressed with the professionalism and speed at which they have delivered phase 1, particularly due to the complexities of the project and the unusual circumstances over the past few months. One of the reasons we chose 247 Commerce was their experience and expertise in Futura integration. The integrations have been delivered successfully and 247 have been quick to react and fix any issues during our post-launch testing phase.” We reckon we’ve earned a brew!
